About the book
Most of your story lives in two places: your memory and your phone. Neither one keeps it.
Our Story is a book you write yourselves. It asks the questions: what your life looked like before you met, where you first went together, what you learned about each other on that first trip, the day everything stopped being new and started being yours. It leaves the pages for your answers, in your own handwriting.
Inside the book
- Seven chapters, from the prologue (Every Love Story Starts Somewhere) through to The Greatest Chapter Yet: You
- Close to 100 guided questions, printed on soft ruled lines made for writing on
- Twelve photo spaces sized for standard 4×6" (10×15 cm) prints
- Relevant questions have a column for each of you, so the same memory gets two answers, in two hands
- A different colour and an original illustration opening every chapter
- Ends with Dear You… which are blank pages for a letter to whoever reads this next
How it works
- Print your photos and stick them in.
- Answer a chapter at a time. Could be during an evening each, or slowly over months.
- Leave it somewhere until it gets picked up again. It isn't meant to be finished in one sitting.
Specifications
- Printed and bound book, 80 full colour pages
- 6 × 9 in / 15 × 23 cm
- Blank inside, apart from the prompts (nothing is pre-filled)
A note on Chapter Five
The Greatest Chapter Yet: You is about becoming parents. If that hasn't happened, leave it, nothing else in the book assumes children, and those pages will still be there when you want them.
As a gift
For an anniversary, an engagement, a wedding, a first Christmas as parents, or for the couple who have been together thirty years and have never written any of it down. The early details are the ones that go first: the street, the song, what one of you was wearing.
A few questions before you begin
We don't have children yet — is this still for us?
Yes. Chapters One through Three are built for exactly this. Chapter Three even includes a note inviting you to skip ahead and come back to the later pages whenever your story reaches them.
Do we need to fill it in one sitting?
No. Most couples take an evening for a chapter, then leave it on the shelf until the next memory surfaces.
